In your initial session you will be asked to fill out a few questionnaires which will give us a baseline measure of your current situation and then Suzana or another psychologist will meet with you to understand you current situation and your challenges or difficulties. Once we have an understanding of your situation we will then discuss your needs and goals. This helps to set up the sessions so that there is a common understanding of what we are working towards. This is important because the clearer the goals the more likely they are to be achieved.
The number of sessions you attend will depend on your situation and your commitment to sessions. Even with complex issues, the more committed a person is to making a change in their life the easier it will be to work through the issues.
Each session lasts for 50 minutes.
If you are referred by a GP, a psychiatrist or a pediatrician (for children and adolescents) via a Mental Health Care Plan then you will be entitled to a Medicare rebate. You will need to bring the referral letter to your initial session. Bulk billing is not available at our practice, however you will be issued with a reciept at the time of your session and if you have a Mental Health Care plan then you can take your reciept to a Medicare office and claim a portion of your payment. If you do not have a Mental Health Care Plan referral you cannot claim your sessions through Medicare but you can still make an appointment to see us by calling the office directly on 9518 0096. Some health funds offer rebates on clinical psychology services. Please check with your health fund to find out more.
